'The Civilians' were formed in 2009, consisting of members from a previous band called 'The Buzztones.' Paul Bretherton, original member of The Civilians/The Buzztones is still fronting the band 12 years later!
Paul was always into the Punk/Indie scene and in 2004, when forming the Buzztones along with a previous bass player, started settling on a more Ska/Indie type playlist playing songs from: The Clash, Green Day, The Jam, Arctic Monkeys and The Kaiser Chiefs (to name a few!)
In 2006, more Ska/Mod songs slowly started getting added to the set such as 'Too much Too young' and 'Baggy Trousers.'
The band also recruited a Keyboard Player and started doing Showcases and signed to an Agency as their popularity was growing due to the addition of more Ska/2-tone music.
In 2012, the ever-changing set became more Ska/2-tone influenced and the band re-branded from 'The Civilians' to 'Mod Revue' and also had the addition of various new musicians.
'Mod Revue' went on to gig from 2012 until 2019 just before the Covid-19 pandemic hit. Following this, the band decided that they had achieved as much as they would of liked to as 'Mod Revue' and decided to go their separate ways.
In early 2022, after 2- years off of the stage, Paul received a phone call from ex-Civilians Keyboard player, David Potter, who is also known for playing with 'Complete Madness' from 2011-2020.
Both musicians had missed playing live music for the past couple of years and decided to reform the original band 'The Civilians' with a fully re-vamped image, set list and with new musicians.
